Trump amazes me
I thought Trump was smart and would therefore make a good President. I thought Trump was a world-class businessman and that having this skill in the White House would benefit the country.
I thought Trump was speaking to the issues more honestly than any candidate had in years – and his timing on when the electorate would be ready for this – simply perfect.
But never in my wildest dreams did I expect him to perform the change into a Great President, one focused like a laser beam on doing what he truly believes is best for the American people — in such a short timespan.
I did not expect this from Trump, because typically men of such high ego strength — as Trump definitely has — have a hard time humbling themselves to Congress, the media, the courts, foreign leaders, and finally — their own staff and Cabinet.
Trump has done this over and over, and done it so well, I am awestruck. If you have doubts about what I am suggesting, consider the following.
Trump’s travel ban – in theory the President has this authority — but the first reversal was NOT challenged by Trump. I believe it was because super lawyer, liberal, brainiac Alan Dershowitz wrote an Op-Ed supporting Trump’s authority –but he also questioned the wording, and the implementation scheme of the first ban.
I think Dershowitz was the key because the Trump team fixed the second EO in a manner completely consistent with the suggestions made by Dershowitz on how to make the first order better.
Then Trump resubmitted. It was overruled again anyway but this time – when it hits the SCOTUS, Trump will prevail.
Take it from me, or Dershowitz, if that makes you feel better.
Next the Dim Democrats, took every opportunity to delay, and smear, every Trump appointment possible. And on the Supreme Court, they were very clear, the nominee could be George Washington – it would not matter – the Dims were gonna filibuster, and arm twist, to stave off cloture.
This could have created a lot of bad outcomes, and usually does, because President’s feel they are ENTITLED to get the Cabinet of their liking, especially if the opposition objections are only political or partisan.
It takes humility to back off from these fights, and do what is BEST — not for Trump — but best for the American people. And that is exactly what Trump did.
The President choose the best and the brightest Cabinet (and SCOTUS nominee) and then waited patiently while every arrow, sling, and slur — was slung. It worked.
The appointees have missed a little work because of the Dem vote dragging, but as hard as Trump’s top people are working now that they are confirmed, they will catch up to — and then surpass the work accomplished by the Obama administration in 8 years — in the first few MONTHS.
