Trump is on Top
Politics is about two things, how well you are doing — and how well the opposition is doing. At the moment, just seconds after President Trump addressed a joint session of Congress, he is doing very well indeed and his competition is combusting in failure.
Tonight, he was brilliant. Deliberate, sincere, strong yet compassionate, Trump hit every high note tonight while speaking — and more importantly, did NOT hit a single sour note.
I estimate 75% of the American people watching this speech were pleased and it’s very hard to do better than that. Trump has matured in just 30 days from a sharp campaigner into a Reagan like communicator and the speed of this progression is remarkable because even though all Presidents need to grow into the job, it usually takes them a year or two to figure that out.
Trump seems to have absorbed this fact on day one.
And clearly now, we see the Trump plan emerging.
First, he will spend $50 to $60 Billion extra on the military, ending sequestration and attempting to leverage this new money into $100 billion in new arms package values, primarily on planes.
He is going to break Obamacare repeal into pieces, making block grants to the states, group plan protection, and drug price negoiation by the government — the centerpieces of his reform.
The Trillion dollars he has promised in an Eisenhower-like infrastructure spending bill – will be interesting to witness – pork spending in Washington never comes out as roads and bridges — simce Eisenhower was in office actually, so this will be a true test of his Drain the Swamp tactics.
His unity message was a lot better than Hillary’s, that’s for certain. If the Democrats still think obstructing him – after this performance – is a good idea, they had their heads in the sand.
Trump proved a lot tonight, he was calm, presidential, bi-partisan, and stuck to messages and themes most Americans understand and approve of.
If the Democrats stay in riot mode against a message and messenger — this inclusive; they are committing Pelosi-cide — the suicide of an entire political Party — to satisfy the whims of a single, crazy, out of touch, mean-spirited, old lady.
