Trump’s Cabinet Genius
Three quick points, I won’t go back over well-trod ground.
All 19 will be confirmed and when they are it will bring together in power — one of the brightest and most capable group of men and women ever sworn to that task.
More then half of them have already contradicted Trump during their confirmation hearings on everything from water-boarding to Russia and Putin — and DID Trump react petulantly? NO – he did the Lincoln-like thing and welcomed the differences, repeatedly stressing how proud he was of “How Brilliniatly — just brilliant — all of them are doing.” but he usually reserved the most praise, for those that had contradicted him.
This man is demonstrating a real commitment to listen to a broad range of voices, and chart a course based on that wise counsel. I see it in 100 ways already with his accommodation of Ryan and McConnell. He’s got them burning the midnight oil constructing his legislative legacy but with a Trump twist — and a lot of this is a reaction to his superb Cabinet picks. Genius on Trump’s part, sheer genius.
My last point is subtle but very important. I was worried about Trump early on in the primary season — because I did not have enough data on how he would make decisions about national and international affairs, which I consider different than business judgment, and that lack of data was very worrisome. But I’ve seen his thinking now, on broad display, for over a year, on a breathtaking range of stuff — from my favorite –Taiwan (Yea), to the F-35, and most importantly; where Trump was wrong (overenthusiastic) on the campaign trail, he’s changed course.
I love this guy. It’s not Reagan like love yet, he has to keep it up for that to happen, but he’s off to a great start – dare I say it? Better than Reagan’s?
If the main stream media wasn’t such a bunch of Kool-Aid drinking, leftist loonies, they would have written a solemn piece in the NYT explaining how Trump was “Coming to Center,” as all Presidents do, after they win.
But Trump isn’t just coming to center, he’s sweeping the center, and even some of the center-left, over to Trump mania. Wait until you see the polls.
Wait until the politicians still sitting on the fence see the polls. Trump needs 40 Dem votes in the House to make his packages legitimate (yes, I used that word), and right now, that group is coalescing. He also needs 5 or 6 Dem Senators for the same cause — and I think he has 2 — But fret not; this is a wonderful beginning.
Trump has the makings of a great President, with solutions and policies badly needed, and just enough snake oil salesman to sell them.
