Politico is not much of a real news source but is a great place to go and read what new falsehood the Progressive Left has created – in the hope of holding onto power.
Which makes the news story below from Politico all the more interesting. They lie and manipulate so consistently at this rag, they wouldn’t be headlining a story like this — unless they have actually given up on the crusade to elect Hillary Clinton President, a crusade decades in the making, despite it’s obvious flaw, the candidate.
From Politico — “A majority of Democratic and independent voters made clear that they don’t foresee Hillary Clinton in their 2020 vision of the presidential election, according to a USA Today/Suffolk University poll released Wednesday.
Sixty-two percent of Democrats and independents surveyed said the twice-failed presidential candidate shouldn’t mount another campaign in 2020, and only 23 percent would be excited by her campaign if she did.”
The Party is in trouble, these numbers aren’t the only ones to be worried about. Nationally the Dem Caucus is at it’s lowest levels in almost 100 years, this is a very big problem and the Democratic leadership known as Nancy Pelosi doesn’t see that, she doesn’t see these numbers or their import, just like she hasn’t seen much — except through red rose colored glasses — for a very long time.
The only difference between Bernie Sanders and Pelosi is Sanders admits he’s a Socialist. A further swing to the left while the world is in flames, or about to be, in 20 different spots — is not just unlikely, it’s suicidal.
Tim Ryan would have, and Tom Perez does: offer the Party a new direction.
This new direction does not have to be a repudiation of the moral values Democrats hold dear. It doesn’t have to sacrifice rights for privilege. But it also cannot ignore competency, results, and the negative impact it’s policies have as well as the positive.
If the schools are bad, after many years of earnest Democratic Party efforts to pay teachers more, maybe vouchers will help.
If trade agreements have wiped out our manufacturing base, maybe they need to be re-thought, even though out sacred cow, Bill Clinton, put them in place.
The Democratic Party does not have to condone discrimination against Muslims, to admit that Islamic Terrorists are at war with us – and that if we don’t fight back abroad and take precautions at home, many more Americans will die.
The President will disagree with me, but I think it’s downright stupid, NOT to make this clear. Ignoring all of the above, there were 3 critical mistakes that Obama insisted on making, that will have a withering effect on his legacy over time. Admitting the gravity of these errors is the first step the Party must take to get back on track for growth.
The worst decision was his much studied and finally rejected offer to join Turkey in a Air Cap, or No-Fly zone over Syria. This left the Russians to fill the void, who are now using that airspace – to shell the hell out of civilians and military alike, creating a refugee crisis that has flooded Europe with millions of Syrian refugees coming by air, sea, road, rail and foot, a wave that has destabilized 10 friendly governments. With friends like Obama, who needs enemies?
This destabilization includes Germany, our most important ally in a region with a predatory Putin. As bad as the No-Fly zone decision was, it didn’t resonate with the public like the passage of Obamacare did.
Democrats still don’t understand why Republicans were against an effort to insure more people. The partisans just don’t get it, in a Democracy you don’t dictate, you compromise, the partisan line vote on Obamacare was the kiss of death. I had not read the bill when it passed, and did not know how the exchange structure was supposed to work –but as soon as I heard the whip count, with not a single Republican vote in either the House or Senate — I knew the legislation and all the programs attached would fail.
This is just common sense. If that wasn’t enough, there is also legislative history, which unfortunately WH staff ignored so many times during the Obama administration; I gave up expecting better.
But the icing on the cake that has broken the unity of the Democratic Party, was, and still is, the Iranian Nuclear Deal. It added to the list of European nations being overrun with refugees, a new list of countries angry at us, including former allies: Turkey, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the GCC countries, Jordan, and most alarming, Israel. Obama split half the Jewish vote out of the Party with his handling of this “Deal” and the ransom debacle afterwards. All of that was preventable — even if the President thought SOME deal was necessary.
These blunders and others were all on the Obama/Clinton/Kerry watch and they still are — when people say, as they did in this election, in this survey above, and as they said to the Bush family in the primary: “Enough”.
