The Tillerson Pick

The Tillerson Pick

I was holding out. I didn’t want to comment on the Secretary of State pick because I was holding out hope — Mitt or Rudy would reemerge — but it looks now to be Rex Tillerson.

The proper way to look at this isn’t whether he is the perfect pick, but how much of an improvement he will be over John Kerry. Since Kerry has been in the job, we’ve had trouble, war, deteriorating relationships and outright hostility from every corner of the globe including: Iran, Egypt, Israel, the GCC countries, Yemen, Libya, Syria, Russia, China, Vietnam, the ASEAN countries and just about every other country Kerry has visited.

Kerry isn’t just a bleeding heart, liberal, leftist loony, he is also a very stupid man, way over his head in these negotiations, and this has caused the country as much heartburn, as the falseness of his base ideology. Whenever Kerry speaks now, there are top State Department aides standing by — in case they need to immediately retract some idiotic remark of his — before it starts another war somewhere.

With that picture firmly in mind, now imagine Rex Tillerson stepping in to those same negotiations. It will be like a drunken fool being replaced by Benjamin Franklin or Thomas Jefferson.

Tillerson is smart, capable, a highly proven negotiator that also understands the power of personal connections and the business world.

In other words, Tillerson will improve our foreign relations by the maximum amount possible in my opinion because Tillerson is a good choice BUT is a GREAT fit against the skill set of the man he is replacing.

My only reservation is his cozy relationship with Putin who is thinking about attacking Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. Trump needs guarantees from Tillerson on this, but if Trump can get satisfied on that, Tillerson as SoS will be a sea change for the better.
