What Trump needs to worry about II
My friend Evan Hochberg has challenged me:
“Given that you are a fan, what are the things that concern you most about how he won as well as what might go wrong under his leadership?”
My second big concern going forward is related to my first concern, the unexpected consequences rule.
Attempting to radically alter the country’s immigration policies can be done in carefully timed phases and maintain the civil rights of all concerned — but it cannot be done quickly and maintain those same rights.
Again, Reagan knew this and he took the amnesty route because he was worried about the legal and economic consequences of any other path.
Trump should listen to Reagan from the grave. Build the wall, but treat the immigrants here as Americans, or suffer many disastrous unintended consequences.
