China Trouble Titanic style

China Trouble Titanic style

How will we know when things in China are about to get real ugly? The answer is NOT in a study of the South China Sea dispute or fishing rights clashes with their ASEAN neighbors or anything with North Korea or even Vietnam, or the Philippines. No, we’ll know the stinky mess is headed for the fast spinning object when China finally asserts itself OVER Taiwan.

The history that really happened and how the Chinese communists see it, are so different as to be the basis for war. I say this because China needs to recognize Taiwan’s independence – and that is the opposite of what the CCP is attempting to do.

Instead of recognizing the inevitable concerning Democracy among the Chinese people – they like it – the CCP wants to coerce the tiny island into communist submission. Reality and the communist view are so diametrically opposed in this problem, I fear this looks to have a bad ending. Read the Reuters wire piece below and you can see the iceberg beneath the surface, cold and creepy, lining up to hit the Titanic.

From Reuters — The Chinese government said on Saturday it had stopped a communication mechanism with Taiwan because of the refusal of the self-ruled island’s new government to recognize the “one China” principle, in the latest show of tension between the two.

China, which regards Taiwan as wayward province, is deeply suspicious of Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen, who took office last month, as they suspect she will push for formal independence.

Tsai, who heads the pro-independence Democratic Progressive Party, says she wants to maintain the status quo with China and is committed to ensuring peace.

But China has insisted she recognize something called the “1992 consensus” reached between China’s Communists and Taiwan’s then-ruling Nationalists, under which both agreed there is only one China, with each having their own interpretation of what that means.
