The Truth about Muhammad Ali

The Truth about Muhammad Ali

Muhammad Ali is dead from a “septic” infection and will be eulogized by former President Bill Clinton this week.

I know I will get heat for this column but I can’t find anyone writing the truth about this man or his legacy so I must.

Bernie Sanders called Ali a personal hero of his – for Ali’s opposition to the Vietnam War, a war our country lost — after our military won every battle in the field.

Ali and thousands like him are the reason. They did not support their own country’s war effort and the effect of that shameful withdraw of support for South Vietnam eventually cost 1.5 million Vietnamese lives and 3 million Cambodians lives.

Some will defend Ali saying his objection to serving in the war, as a conscientious objector was valid.

I disagree. The Supreme Court found his religious conversion genuine and let him out of jail BUT in retrospect does that decision stand up?

Conscientious objector status is freely given to Americans, called for service, that come from a religious sect that does not allow killing or war.

Muhammad Ali got this relief by claiming the Muslim religion DOES fit the Army’s definition of a religious sect that does not allow killing or war.

Could they honestly make that ruling today? The Muslims are not Quakers, they hate our religious beliefs and democratic ideals and that makes Muhammad Ali just a draft dodger.

He got out of serving his country to make a political statement for a religion that will kill every American if it gets a chance.

What a liberal farce, no wonder Bill is giving the eulogy. Wherever you find the big lie, you find the Clintons.

I have to agree with you about my favorite boxer of all times.. Mr. Cassius Clay aka Ali.
He was incredibly talented inside and outside the ring. But ultimately, he was just another draft dodger seeking a way out of the hell hole of SE Asia so others would take his place and bear his responsibilities while he enjoyed life at home.
