The CIA is Thinking Ahead
By Karl Spain
According to recent news reports, the CIA is dabbling in a new science, called geo-engineering. The CIA is partially funding a National Academy of Sciences study to determine “how” humans could influence the Earth’s weather.
This is really good news. In a book I published in 2009, I outlined the need for this and here is why. Bad things happen. They haven’t happened recently, which has given all of mankind a false sense of just how dangerous and inhospitable the Earth can be. For 250,000 of the last 400,000 years, glaciers stretched down from Canada all the way to New York City. Ice ages come on a 17,000 year cycle. We’re deep into that cycle right now.
Global warming is not really a very big concern, the Earth has been warmer than it is now, many times in fact, and life as we know it, survived these warm periods just fine. Ice ages are extinction events. Meteor strikes are extinction events; in fact, the last big suspected meteor strike killed everything bigger than your thumb, including all the dinosaurs. Stop the meteors and control the weather, these are two things mankind will have to get together and cooperate and do, or the human species will the next causality of one of these, inevitable, extinction events.
Inevitable does not mean imminent. On meteors and weather anyway, we have some time, statistically speaking, but we are overloading the oceans with containments that are changing the way the oceans heat and cool the planet, how they produce all the food on the bottom two or three rungs of the entire food chain, and these two things could radically alter that ice age timeline. Overall, the human species footprint, the load we are exerting on the ecosphere planet-wide, is pushing the disaster clock hands forward, faster and faster.
Taking the next step, to give mankind some type of positive control over the fundamental forces that control weather, is logical. Here is how one such device could work. Fields covered with photovoltaic panels could have a large flat, aluminum panel, co-located next to each PV, that was painted black on one side and white on the other. It would only take a small amount of current from the adjacent electrical production to turn those panels over. White panel up would reflect light back into space and cool the planet. Black would absorb the maximum amount of infra-red possible, driving the atmospheric heat cycle even harder. In other words, a weather control.
No other control scheme can work, only impacting the amount of sunlight being converted to heat in the atmosphere can change the planet’s heat envelope. Hopefully the CIA will get on board and create a workable plan.
